One thing Lindsey has grown in during our nine years of marriage is his fix-it skills. Most of that experience grew in this being our third home. Some of those homes needed more fixing than others. Also he has learned a lot from his dad, who is is one of those people who can build ANYTHING. (remember the swing-set built from scratch?)
These are two small projects Lindsey has done that cost us little to nothing. My in-laws gave us this swing. It was previously white, but we found a can a paint in our garage that matched our shutters and door. We decided that hanging it with rope would really go with the cottage look of the house, so we googled how to do it, and here is the final result. We did have to buy the rope and some hardware for hanging.
The second project was a sewing nook. We have this small closet in our master bedroom, that we were using for office storage. We moved a few of those things into the garage, and Lindsey installed the shelf that the machine sits on. He first attached 2x4s to the wall and then screwed the shelf into that. All this was done with scrap materials that we had around, so we didn't spend anything. I am not a master sewer, but I want to grow in that. You can't get better at something when it is sitting in your garage for a whole year.
